The Perfect Cheese Strain 8%-13% CBD Review – Hempelf
As stated on the Hempelf website:
Take in the potent taste and fragrance of this Cheese phenotype. Deep cheese, with a slight hint of gas when squeezed. A deep and relaxing experience.
These CBD flowers are hemp derived, non-psychotoxic, THC-free* & EIHA EU certified strains. Hemp is not marijuana. All our hemp products are grown under government licenses in Italy and Switzerland. Our hemp flower souvenirs are named after popular cannabis strains with similar terpene profiles. They are not related to the THC strains, all our hemp flowers come from carefully grown Carmagnola industrial hemp. All our flowers are processed by a machine “chopper” to break them into smaller pieces.
The Cheese strain from Hempelf arrived to me in a standard mylar bag, heat sealed for freshness. Luckily my order arrived in a sturdy cardboard box, preventing the flowers being squashed and damaged, which is always a big issue with mylar bags. On the bag the sticker provides you with a decent amount of information such as:
- Strain Name
- CBD Percentage
- Legal Information`
As you can see above, this cheese strain is a beauty. Layered in ripe trichomes and mature pistils, these flowers are almost nostalgic in appearance. Don’t be fooled by the average trim job and fluffy look, these CBD flowers are perfect in my opinion. Firstly, going back to that nostalgia feeling, the deep shade of green coupled with the fluffy, half trimmed structure of the bud and pistils that hide in the crevices really throws me back to the days of exodus cheese and blue cheese. This has a similar appearance to old school flowers that would normally stink half the street out!
Scent & Terpenes:
Straight off the bat this is most certainly a cheese Strain! opening up the bag I’m hit with a strong cheesy scent, almost like a sour, gassy cheddar smell. It is very pungent on the nose, there is no doubting that this is cheese! its so hard to find a good CBD strain that represents cheese so perfectly, the pungent skunk aroma really links back to what I said about the nostalgic appearance of this stunning CBD flower.
In my opinion, the main terpenes I’m getting from this flower are:
- Caryophyllene – antioxidant, anti-inflammatory properties, possible therapy for treating inflammatory bowel disease. May be able to treat anxiety and depression.
- Linalool – anti-microbial properties, sedative and anti-epileptic properties, reduces levels of anxiety and lower depression-like behaviours.
- Limonene – Elevated mood, Stress relief, Antifungal properties, Antibacterial properties, May help relieve heartburn and gastric reflux, Improves absorption of other terpenes and chemicals by way of the skin, mucous membranes, and digestive tract.
- Myrcene – Antioxidant and antimicrobial, anti-anxiety and pain-relieving properties, sedative and muscle relaxant, reduces inflammation
I have been using this Cheese Strain extensively using my Mighty vaporiser starting at 170oc working my way up every few minutes with increments of 10oc up until 210oc. I do this so I can work through and extract as many different cannabinoids as possible from my material. For example, at around 170oc terpenes and flavonoids are extracted, this gives me this best indication on flavour. At 180oc to 210oc CBD, THC, CBG Etc are better extracted.
At 170oc I’m getting that true cheese flavour, rich nostalgic skunk flavours mixed with that undeniably cheesy punch. As far as flavour goes this Cheese strain is certainly packed full of it, very above average for a CBD flower. I stayed at this temp for a good two minutes, savouring that highly sought after taste.
When I reached 190oc that flavour was still going strong, excellent pungent vapour at this temperature. No noticeable changes to flavour from 170oc besides an obvious slight loss of terpenes. However with saying that, I was still in absolute cheese heaven!
At about 3-4 minutes into the bowl and approximately 10 pulls deep I finally reached 210oc, to my surprise this flower still had life left in her, chucking out its final plumes of still semi flavourful vapour. At this temp any flower loses much of its taste, but its a real good indication of freshness and quality. What I mean by that is if your flower is still producing decent vapour that isn’t too harsh at 210oc then that indicates a solid moisture content and healthy, numerous trichomes.
Cheese is traditionally a Indica-dominant hybrid, producing strong effects accompanied by massive pain relief. This CBD version is no different! As part of Hempelf’s ‘Calming’ range, this Cheese strain has been my go-to wind down flower over these past few weeks. Getting in from work and just needing that calm sensation to take away the days stresses and aches, this one has always been there for me.
Personally, I have found this flower to be great at stopping stress and anxiety dead in its tracks, leaving me with a sensation of bliss with slight euphoria, massively boosted mood and also a massively boosted appetite. It is also a pretty great sedative, not in the way that the THC version might make you feel but more like struggling to stay awake after using and being so comfortable that you don’t want to move from that position.
I absolutely have to mention this flowers pain relief properties. recently I have been having trouble with my back, shoulders and neck, inflammation causing severe pain and spasms, a couple bowls of this CBD cheese and I’m feeling great again! Don’t get me wrong I had some THC Blue cheese recently and that worked absolute wonders for pain but this CBD version has its place in my arsenal.
Although this flower is part of the ‘Calming range’ do not let that fool you into thinking this flower isn’t great in the mornings! Using this before working gives me the biggest confidence and creativity boost, I can function normally but it feels like my brain is just firing off all these great ideas. This flower really gets those gears going in the morning and helps you to start your day on a positive vibe.
Overall my time with this CBD cheese strain has been an enjoyable experience. I had searched for so long to find a good CBD cheese that reflects its THC cousin so perfectly and here it is! This is by far the closest to cheese as you can get when it comes to CBD flower in the UK. In my opinion Hempelf have done an amazing job with this flower as per usual, its an honour to be able to bring my fans a way to fulfil their cheesy needs…CBD style.
As always a huge thankyou to Hempelf for sending this out to me free of charge. If you would like to take a look at this amazing cheese strain yourself click on any of the images on this CBD review or Here to be taken to the Hempelf website.
